Overview

A legendary artist Muhammad Rustam Khan, based in Karachi serving his artistic services since 1974. He has also gained multiple national and international awards along with multiple solo and group shows locally and internationally.

The current body of his work is a painterly interpretation of the architectural process which serves as a memory of joint venture between him and architects. Architecture is an amalgamation of science and art , with rich philosophy of complexity and contradiction.

Khan tried to translate technical structure of buildings into expressive form of art with an effort to retain its Historicism, rhythm and ambiguity. His paintings depicts fusion of Karachi’s colonial grandeur with local craftsmanship. From grand civic buildings to ornate cinemas, He has invited viewers to appreciate Karachi’s layered history embedded in facades lying powerfully onto his canvas , that narrates millions of stories of hardship, sacrifices , beauty, remorse, destruction and construction.

From Delicate ornate of brass work to textured sandstones He has just preserved history and by adding life into heritage of karachi He has paid tribute to the meticulous hands and minds who constructed these monuments without Pinterest and Artificial intelligence in that bygone era.
